Jet engines noise reductionThe difficult problem of the reduction of noise due to the plane's engines during the take-off has very important industrial issues. In the framework of a PhD thesis at the Research Center of EADS (CIFRE contract), we participated to the development of a new solver for the numerical simulation of aero-acoustics. The numerical method is based on a mixed formulation FEM-BEM.
Automotive industryIn collaboration with Renault, in the framework of a CIFRE contract financing the PhD thesis of Fehd Ben Aïcha, we study the application of some modern techniques of automatic control to the command of the cooling of the fuel cells stack. Such techniques result in a significant enhancement of the functioning of the cooling circuit.
Shape optimization of a submerged pumpIn collaboration with the IFP (Institut Français du Pétrole), we study the maximization of the efficiency of a pump sucking the crude oil from the subsoil. The control variable is the geometry of the pump and the output of the system is the pressure gap. The dynamics of the oil are modeledby the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations.
